Rescue, Rehabilitate, Rehome

When life becomes unpredictable, we offer steady, compassionate support — giving each dog the time and space they need to settle, recover, and find the right future.

Their pace, their needs, our care.

Who Are We?

At La’al Marras Rescue Group, we believe every dog deserves more than just a second chance — they deserve patience, respect, and a life where they are truly understood. Many of the animals who come to us have experienced neglect, fear, or confusion, and we’re here to show them a different world: one filled with compassion, safety, and belonging.

We don’t rush our dogs through the rescue system. Instead, we give them the time they need to heal, the space to decompress, and the consistency that builds trust. Whether it’s a pup needing gentle rehabilitation or a senior soul seeking a soft landing, we tailor our care to each individual.

Our team is made up of passionate volunteers and foster carers who share one core value — that no dog should be written off because of circumstance, breed, or behaviour. We work collaboratively with local communities, veterinary professionals, behaviourists, and other rescue organisations to make sure every dog has the best possible chance to thrive.

When you support La’al Marras Rescue Group you're not just helping a rescue — you're becoming part of a movement that believes in doing rescue differently.

Rooted in empathy, driven by ethics, and fuelled by love, our mission is to walk alongside each dog until the day they find a family of their own — and even beyond.

Join us in creating a better future, one excited tail wag or happy bum waggle at a time.

Meet the Marras

At La’al Marras Rescue Group, our team is made up of passionate, experienced individuals united by a shared commitment to animal welfare, community care, and ethical rescue. We come from all walks of life but are bound by the belief that every dog deserves patience, protection, and a future filled with love.

We don’t measure success by speed — we take our time, meeting each dog where they are, and advocating for solutions that honour both the dog’s needs and the realities of the people involved.

We believe in collaboration over competition, transparency over perfection, and compassion as our core guiding principle.

Whether we’re responding to crisis calls, supporting families through difficult transitions, or rehabilitating dogs with complex needs, we work with care, integrity, and respect at every step.

Sarah

"I'm the Bulldog Queen!"

Sarah (or Sazza, as she’s affectionately known) is usually the first to jump in when a dog’s in crisis. Whether it’s a welfare check, an emergency vet run, or a call-out from the public, she’s often on the ground when it matters most.

Her heart lies firmly with the bullbreeds — she shares her home in Cumbria with seven beautiful bulldogs of her own and has a soft spot for every scrunchy face that comes our way. She also provides full-time wraparound care for one very special forever foster, Pablo, providing daily drop-ins for companionship so he’s never alone for too long while his foster-dad is at work.

A devoted mum of three, Sarah somehow balances the chaos of home life and work with the demands of rescue, and does it all with grit, determination, and a smile on her face.

Kaylee

"Saving the world a dog a day!"

Kaylee has been immersed in the world of dog rescue since her teens, and there are few breeds she hasn’t had the privilege of working with. Her dedication runs deep — every dog in her care receives her full attention, but she has a special soft spot for the big breeds who often get overlooked.

Alongside her vital role at La’al Marras Rescue Group, Kaylee also works with a UK-based rescue and fosters for several others, juggling logistics, transport, and intakes with a lot of expertise and a lot more heart.

Kaylee officially became a Marra after adopting one of our lovely fosters, and she’s never looked back.

She’s currently being thoroughly charmed by Gary, our La'al Frenchie, and can't wait to find him his perfect forever family.

Emma

"Welcome to Dog Rescue!"

Emma helps keep the rescue group ticking day to day, handling the admin and background work that keeps everything connected and moving forward. She’s one of the team members who prefers working behind the scenes, to make sure no dog falls through the cracks.

She also fosters some of the more vulnerable La’al Marras herself, often taking in the medically complex or emotionally shutdown cases others might hesitate to. Her soft spot? The “wonky” bulldogs — full of quirks, character, and desperate for second chances.

Emma’s approach is rooted in compassion, practicality, and lived experience. She values honesty, mutual respect, and doing what’s right — even when it’s hard. Rescue, for her, is about community and care, not heroics.

Millie

"You gotta do what you gotta do!"

Millie is the creative force behind our social media presence, expertly managing posts and engagement to share the stories of our dogs and our rescue work.

Alongside her admin responsibilities with La’al Marras, she balances voluntary roles in other rescue projects and runs her own pet-sitting business.

Millie has a special soft spot for our La'al Marra, Big Phil and is passionate about giving every dog a voice and a chance to be seen.

At home Millie cares for five huge Dogue Du Bordeaux, and is bossed around by Luna Tuna, her tiny French Bulldog.

Craig

"It's not my fault all the dogs love me!"

Craig is our North-to-Midlands transporter and professional cuddle-magnet. He’s the reason we joke that no dog can be temperament tested properly — they all fall head over paws for him.

While he may pretend he enjoys the peace and quiet of long drives, we know he secretly lives for the company of a snoring bulldog in the passenger seat. Between vet runs, enrichment outings, and last-minute missions, Craig’s usually out and about making things happen.

At home, he’s kept in line by a Cane Corso and an elderly Jack Russell.

Our La'al Marra Sylvia — whether she’s technically his or not — has definitely claimed him!

Dannon

"ohhh, i thought that was people food, my bad"

Dannon plays an important role in the day-to-day care of several of our current rescue dogs, providing extra hands and attention when new or high-need dogs arrive in foster homes. His dedication helps ensure every dog receives the wraparound care they deserve.

He’s known for his calm approach and reliable support, especially with dogs like Big Phil and Sylvia, who have been especially close to his heart during their ongoing journeys with La'al Marras Rescue Group.

Our Codes of Conduct and Ethos

As La’al Marras Rescue Group, we operate with compassion, transparency, and integrity at the heart of everything we do.

Our Code of Conduct sets clear expectations for all team members and volunteers, while our Ethos reflects the values that guide our work: animal welfare first, community support always, and a zero-tolerance approach to neglect or abuse.

Together, they ensure our rescue remains a safe, ethical, and inclusive space for animals and humans alike

Home Visits for Vulnerable Owners

Support with compassion, safety, and dignity

We understand that not everyone finds it easy to complete forms online or communicate remotely, especially when facing a difficult decision like rehoming a beloved pet.

That’s why we offer home visits for vulnerable owners — to provide practical help, assess dogs in their home environment, or simply offer a friendly face-to-face conversation.

For your safety and peace of mind, any team member carrying out a home visit for a vulnerable individual will be Enhanced DBS checked, or directly supervised in person by someone who is, and will always introduce themselves clearly with identification.

We’re here to support, not to judge — and we’ll never pressure you into making a decision that doesn’t feel right for you or your dog.

Policies and Notices

We are committed to operating in full compliance with UK law.

Our Policies and Legal Notices set out the terms of using this site, our responsibilities as a rescue organisation, and your rights as a supporter, adopter, or volunteer.

From data protection to adoption processes, every policy is written with clarity and transparency to build trust and protect everyone we work with.

Community Interest Company (CIC) Status

Although we have privately funded our rescue missions since the conception of La'al Marras, we are now applying for recognition as a Community Interest Company (CIC). This will allow us to apply for grants to help support our local community and the wider national better during this unprecedented crisis in UK rescue.
